Serenity In the City Salon & Spa

I wasn’t very pleased with my 50-min facial which was less than 50 minute. I almost considered doing 60 for an extra $15 and thankfully I didn’t as I didn’t get the full 50 minutes to begin with. The lady that did my facial was sweet and gentle but I am personally not pleased with the processed/outcome as I could have done myself a facial. She barely did extractions by using her hands. For a second, it felt like she was just popping random spot but nothing was really coming off…She complimented me by saying I only have few black heads but there was a white head on my chin that was sticking out and I knew about it because I noticed it prior to my appointment. I was hoping she’d remove it but after my appointment and when i got back to my car, it was still there. All i had to do was barely picked at it and it came off. Perhaps an overlook from her end? Additionally, I noticed my face was overly wet as if she didn’t finish doing my face, then come to realized I still have bits of exfoliate particles all over my face. Moreover, I noticed my eyebrow was flaky hours after my facial and come to realize she didn’t cleanse me well or my theory of forgetting to cleanse my face was true. After extraction, she put retinol and we were done…I have video to support how flaky one of my eyebrows were, it almost look like I have a dandruff build up. Wish I could add it here but wouldn’t let me. I’m pretty disappointed for my first time experience as this place has a good reputation but a basic facial seems to be lacking…

I can’t say enough good things about Serenity in the City. It is truly phenomenal. I have been to many high end spas while traveling and and Serenity is the best experience I have ever had. Their services and atmosphere are that of a high end spa with the incredibly affordable prices. Serenity is the only place I have ever been too which I’ll say “any available provider” because everyone is THAT good. Today I had a facial with Amanda which was absolutely incredible and my massage with Marta was the cherry on top. Everyone here is SO kind. There was a minor mishap with my scheduling and my appointment needed to be moved back a bit which was totally fine with me because I got to relax in the relaxation room with complimentary drinks and snacks. They even comped me an add on service for the mishap which was completely unnecessary but just goes to show their extraordinary service. I will be back! And back, and back, and back…:)

Honestly, what have I been doing with my life? I should have started coming to this salon as soon as I moved to Medford 2 years ago. Absolutely fantastic experience from the moment I walked in. Everyone was super friendly, and your girl is never one to turn down a mimosa. Linda was great. She immediately understood what I wanted to do with my hair, and got right to work. She checked in with me periodically to make sure she was still on the right track, and she was! I got exactly the cut I was looking for and am really pleased with it. Will definitely be back again!

Great spa and salon. Had a great experience with Tara. She’s a great esthetician that does amazing treatments. Staff are friendly and sweet including the front desk team. Vast assortment of salon grade professional hair & beauty products to choose from. This space is huge with many services to choose from including manicure and pedicure.

I just left Serenity in the City in Medford, I went there for a face wax in my cheeks and lip. She literally TOOK OUT a piece of my skin, right before thanksgiving!! I went back inside and showed to her, I told Katlyn that it was hurting and burning way to much, more than expected, which is not normal. It is extremely painful with the skin super red, it actually got swollen. I never in my life had such an awful experience like this and I always have face wax in other places. When I went back inside they kept asking me if I was taking antibiotics, what did I use in my skin before the wax and what do I use daily!! THEY WERE ACTUALLY TRYING TO BLAME ME for what happened. I told them it was not my fault, I don’t take any antibiotics and I take really good care of my skin with Cetaphil. They gave my money back but now the damage is already done!!! I am so sad and devastated. I will try to enjoy my thanksgiving and be thankful for not be worse because it could be.

The salon is beautiful, but I'm writing this review mainly about Kiante, the massage therapist. She's phenomenal. I've had other massages there and Kiante clearly stands out. She doesn't rush, she asks very specific questions about what you're looking for, and best of all she doesn't talk the whole time. I'm so glad I found her and I'll be seeing her as frequently as possible from here on out.

Facials here have been awesome but the massage hasn't been great hence the 1 star. I regularly go to another massage center in union square, thought I'd give Serenity a try since I had good experience with their facials before. I would not go back for massages. Did Swedish deep tissue. 1. Cold lotion used to massage was unpleasant. Felt greasy and icky 2. A lot of shuffling and movement back and forth on the masseuse's side causing my experience to feel broken. - kept stopping to grab more lotion - kept stopping to move the table up and down. This was not needed it just made me feel like I was on a lab table - Everytime I felt ok they just got into the rhythm in one spot of my body, they left that part to get to the next. I had a lot of "ok that's it?" 4. Felt very rushed, I could not feel relaxed at all. 5. Movements were short and hurried. 6. 75 min session which started before I got undressed. Time lost to get equipment etc I don't know if it's the masseuse or just the company training and policies. I wanted something with continuity, rhythm, warmth, to feel fixed at the end of my session.

Take a good look, I paid $110, $120 with tip, for this. I had gel on my nails previously, and she removed it with a nail file that she cut me with and then messily put a chemical on that absolutely burned my surrounding skin, it hurts to have socks on or walk and I’m going on vacation. The pedicure itself was nice and she was attentive to detail, but nobody told me the insane up charge for removing old gel and getting new gel, the pedicure went from $65 to $110, that is a little too steep for what I got. I had plans of returning and checking out other services but I’m not so sure now.
